"An FT review of Brink’s posts on X before and after Trump took office on January 20 showed a clear shift in her public statements, particularly in relation to Russia.

In the 75 days prior to Trump’s inauguration, she posted critically of Russia and the war in Ukraine 53 times. In the 75 days after, she posted just five times with mentions of Russia, none of which placed blame on the country for its attacks."

Looks like a bit of a Trumpist.

"Tensions between Brink and Zelenskyy have been evident recently. He issued a statement critical of the ambassador last week after a Russian missile attack on his hometown of Kryvyi Rih that killed 20 people, including nine children.

Following the attack, Brink wrote on X: “Horrified that tonight a ballistic missile struck near a playground and restaurant in Kryvyi Rih. More than 50 people injured and 16 killed, including 6 children. This is why the war must end.”

Zelenskyy noted the absence of any direct attribution of blame for the attack by Brink, and said on Telegram: “Unfortunately, the reaction of the American Embassy is unpleasantly surprising: such a strong country, such a strong people — and such a weak reaction. Also, they are afraid to say the word ‘Russian’ when talking about the missile that killed children.”

But perhaps the strain of trumpeting the Trump line got too much for her.

Looks like Trumpf is ready to pull out, a win for Pootin. The Orange one’s interference has increased the bloodshed and length of the war.

Just the same as in Gaza...

The orange rapist seems to have a penchant for fascists and war criminals...

'Kill, baby, kill' it seems is another of his mantras!

Good interview/Q & A with Prof Michael Clarke, military analyst.
Good stuff bit a bit long , have it on while you're doing something else!
It ties up a few ends I'd been wondering about.

As we said a while back, OIL is a place where putin can be hurt. That's why he was so keen to make that a no-go area in his first suggestion at a cease-fire.
A lot is in range from Ukanian weapons. This is from 15 months ago. They will have improved their abilities with, I hope, European help.

I'm afraid it's much worse than that. It may be a cliché to invoke comparisons with previous dictators, but the rhymes are there.

Sanctioning lawyers who bring cases against the leader's policies
Ignoring court rulings
Taking away powers from the legislature
Censoring the media
Determining what universities are allowed to teach
Filling top civil service posts with those who have pledged allegiance

If it walks like a dictator and quacks like a dictator....

In Trump 1, a US friend pointed out how T lied blatanly about the number attending his inauguration (it was far less than Obama's).
Apparently Hitler did exactly the same thing.

If it walks like a dictator and quacks like a dictator....
It's a ducktator?

That was very good, he does seem to have a remarkable insight.
Standouts for me were that whilst he was extremely critical of Trump, he couldn't rule out a change of direction or u turn on Trumps part.

The extent of Russias reliance on N.Korea, Iran and China.

The impossibility of re-taking the captured territories, he was of the opinion it could only be achieved politically in 20-30 years time (2 or 3 leaders after Putin)

The likelihood of the war carrying on for several more years.

Interesting points on even if Europe/America supplied longer range missiles, Ukraines inability to use them inside Russia, more sophisticated air defences would be bettter.

All of those things have been done by every POTUS, from both sides, over many decades.
They just rarely made the news.

I don't think that is true. But if you have a link to an article which discusses that angle I would be very interested to read it. Every serious commentator I have read, from both right and left, agrees that what Trump is doing is unprecedented and momentous. Some agree with what he is doing. Some don't. But I have not come across anyone who says that it is normal.
