Following the distraction robbery of my wife’s purse and the withdrawal of over £2.5k from various accounts on Friday, my wife reported it immediately and yesterday she received a voice message on her phone regarding the 'theft from a vehicle' and to phone the number given. She phoned the number, only to be told that it was only available Monday to Friday between certain hours. She was going to phone back first thing on Monday. A few hours ago she received an email from them stating that due to no contact from her, they are dropping any investigations!

She’s gone from being very upset to being very angry. Useless, lazy, effing Police. She’s not going to let it drop though.

Lesson learned - don't leave valuables in the car.(y)

The police don't have the time or the manpower to investigate some poxy purse snatch from an unlocked car. Get over it and let the insurers do their thang.

Just out of interest -

if the bank reimburses the losses, where does this money come from?

It seems rather incongruous that if you, in good faith, buy a stolen car (or anything else probably), it can be seized with no thought of nor compensation for the buyer.

Harsh but true. He needs to quit bleating. There are people out there relying on the police to catch villains that have murdered or raped their daughter and pi££d on her summer dress.

Mot should have not left valuables in an unlocked car. Lesson learned.

It wasn’t an unlocked car, it was his car that his wife was sat in and driving.

I’m sure you would tell your missus to stop bleating if she were the victim.
