There's something wrong with this picture:

hi.... last February my energy supplier debited two energy bills on the same day and it was taken out of my bank.

Was it direct debit?

no I always transfer payment from my bank into energy companies account

To my mind, it's really simple, the EC say they have paid it to you....get them to prove it to you! They should be able to show a bank statement that says £X left their account for yours.

Other way around- you prove to them that payment has not been received. you’re not interested in the money leaving their account.

As would be claimant- burden of proof is on you.
