Vaillant diverter valve Improved design?

tbh i don't know because those people that do it rarely calls rgi because they fix problems themselves  .thats why we partly react with people taking cover off ( co going into room ) . i only know I've fitted it properly .

I was just wondering how many you'd seen leak as you obviously work on them day in, day out.

A lot specifically your model
but that's usually down to the service being missed

How does missing a service cause the front cover to leak? Surely the service disturbs the seal making it more likely to leak upon re installation?

There is not only the case seal to be considered.

There is a combustion seal inside which needs to be replaced as part of the service procedures in some circumstances.

Lack of maintenance basically, resulting in a failure of the front seal

if you read the service schedule you maybe figure it out

:cry::eek: ffs

Do you realise how ridiculous you are sounding now?

I understand gas related items need to be replaced which I definitely wouldn't do myself.

Is there actually any maintenance carried out on the seal itself though? It's not a serviceable part is it? Surely you just check for leaks and then replace it if you detect a leak?

It's another part that fails that causes this seal to fail.
If maintained properly that seal won't fail

I understand that if something fails within the boiler due to poor maintenance then that could cause the seal to leak. What I was trying to say is that if everything is working perfectly fine within the boiler then I can't see how a lack of maintenance could cause the seal to break down or be damaged because it's not a serviceable part.

Is that the burner seal?

now are you realising what I'm getting at , your asking questions meaning you realise now theres more to it ,

I know there's a lot more to the gas side. That's why I will be getting it serviced.

I've read up on the burner seal. I noticed my boiler does have the nyloc nuts on it. I will ensure the RGI replaces the seal when the boiler is serviced.

Unfortunately I didn't choose this boiler. It was already in the house when I moved in.

To be fair it's been a good work horse so far. This is the first problem I've had with it and the water in the system was really black and nasty the first time I drained it.

I foresee another thread coming......"where does that fibre washer go that is supplied with burner door seal kit"...
