As an aside I believe there are "cheap" trackers not run Via a company but you install and you can monitor on a smart phone, some I have seen could be "hidden" in a chop saw or generator Etc.

Sadly a waste of time - the police don't make any effort to investigate so the punishment is irrelevant.

Last week we had 6 units on our estate broken into, locks bolt cropped off the main entrance, locks disc cut, good lighting, CCTV footage - police didn't even bother to turn up to look at anything.

The previous occasion (about three years ago) we tracked (quad bikes tracks) the thieving scum back to the local 'travellers' camp - police interest = zero.

Until we start to punish thieving, low-life, parasitic scumbags there is no deterrent.
