Veritas R8

Hi, I have moved into a house with a Veritas R8 alarm with remote keypad.

The system basically has PIRs in each of the 4 bedrooms which are all working.
The master bedroom also has a panic button which does not work - help needed please!!

Also in the rest of the house there are PIR's in the drawing room, dining room, study, living room and kitchen none of which set of the alarm, some light up some dont!!

Any ideas how to sort it out?

The R8 is only an 8 zone alarm hence to have more than 8 sensors (including PIRs and the panic button) will mean either that some havent been connected up or they are doubled up. If you pop the cover off the ones that don't light up can you measure 12vDC across the supply?
It is then a case of putting the system into walk mode and ensuring each detector is registering on the main panel.
If they are all registering but not arming then it is a programming issue.

Hi Thanks for he reply, was thinking bout it last night and im thinking now of removing the Veritas R8 control panel and keypad (leaving the wiring, PIR's and Bell box in situ and replacing the system with a new texecom premier 24 with 2 8XE zone expander and adding:

a PIR in the boiler room

a PIR in the master bedroom dressing room, a RKP in the master bedroom

a RIR n the utility room and lobby and hall

a RKP by the back doors in the kitchen (which we mainly use) and a PA button in the Kitchen, and door contacts.

This would then include 14 PIR's, 3 RKP's, 1 set of door contacts and 2 PA buttons.

Would this be relitavely easy to do?

P.S. Could I re-use the Texecom Veritas RKP in the new system? Just thinking it may be easier to re use it by the lobby door.

Unfortunatly the veritas range of keypads will not work with premier panels. You would have to replace the existing RKP, but you will be able to reuse the same wiring.

Other than that, it should be fairly straight forward to wire you additional sensors if you have a reasonable understanding of alarms.

The manual is fairly detailed with the premier panel, and aslong as you sit down and read through it, there is nothing too complicated to do.
