as for the pump, that's where i have to concede, i thought it was always directly wired on signal live. The location is different, it's on the middle floor next to the hot water cylinder and the boiler is on the ground floor. Pump being on separate isolation switch this is all i know.

Gas valve/pcb check correct voltage to gas valve and that it doesnt drop if voltage drops its pcb if not its gas valve.

Sounds like its cutting the power to the fan when it makes the noise, this means its not the gas valve because if it was the fan would still be running, the problem u have could be pcb or the demand dropping out then coming back, the potentiometer causes this fault on these boilers
