Village of Dementia?

On the other hand, the smoking might well be the cause of making you very ill, and perhaps living a long and miserable old age as a result of the smoking, not to mention the cost. As we get older, we all do have to cope with poorer health and not being as fit as we once were, but why risk making it worse than it need be?
I agree. Btw, you do know I don't smoke, right? The way you've phased your post reads as though you're directing it to me?

I've had plenty of UTIs and even in people without dementia, they can cause some very strange behaviour. IHNI why, but they do.

As far as dying is concerned, I hope I go quickly.

As for my Ma, I would hate for her to go in a home.

Her next door neighbour did, and my Ma visited her a good few times. She did not have her toenails cut regularly and could not get her slippers on, there was always stuff blocking her ensuite bathroom and she found other residents wearing her clothes.

And this was a nursing home run by a well known provider who I will not mention, and cost £1500 a week.

Dementia affects different people differently, often a complete personality change which some think is an underlying personality coming out, in reality the brain is shorting and rewiring itself. It seems to be on the rise. Maybe statins and better treatment for what would have been fatal strokes or heart attacks is a big factor.

Yes, people are living longer, and the longer their life, the more chance of such issues developing.
The number people I know who have strokes, then you see the initial confusion and signs of decline within a few months.
