Hi, without trawling through the other replies could someone please help me as i'm at the end of my tether!
I have added 2 new wall lights and looped them together with twin and earth to the double switch...i have a red and black cable feeding into the switch from the ceiling rose...i have tried wiring in all the wires as suggested in my DIY manual but only one side ever works (wall lights on or ceiling light on!)
I have now got both lights working independantly but the ceiling light is still on although it is very dim, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

you have no neutral at the switch. You need a neutral. I suggest you take the new light cable up to the ceiling rose, where there is a neutral.

Thanks, so do i take the cable from the wall light to the ceiling rose or from the switch to the ceiling rose? Getting a little confused now!

It may be easier now to replace the twin & earth cable at the switch with a 3 core if this is possible. Then you will have a neutral at the switch position...
