I am putting a wet room in my firt floor en suite bathroom. My problem is that the waste outlet is about 3 joists away from the stck pipe. Am I allowed to cut 38mm holes in the joists and if so where abouts do I have to put them to keep within current regulations??

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to our world.

You may need to;
-raise the floor
-look into running a duct in the downstairs ceiling
-installing a lifter

3rd option not recommended.

ive just spent a silly amount on a wet room system. So basically I now have a wetroom shower tray sat on the joists. The outlet is 3 joists away from the stack pipe. Lifting the tray really isnt an option for me as the whole point is to have a room all on the same level including the shower. I assume by running a duct you mean some horrible boxing that will be left hanging from the ceiling? :(

Failing that the only other option I see is running the pipe outside from the end of the joists then back in again to the stack pipe, again something id prefer to avoid :(

not much choice really as that kind of cut will greatly weaken your joists
