Please help before my house is flooded!

My husband has removed our old toilet. The new one he is going to install is lower than the one he removed, so the outlet at the back is lower than the waste pipe currently is. He seems to think that a flexible connector will work, but I am worried that because of gravity the water (and otherwise) will not flow up - even with the force of the flush, as gravity really suggests otherwise. Surely the toilet needs to be raised or the waste lowered? Any quick fix?

Thanks!

Sounds like it, one or the other. You obviously need a fall on the pan connector.

Any quick fix?

Depending on how much too low the pan is, and its shape, you could raise it with something. How much too low is it?

so long as the waste pipe is still lower than the highest point of the toilet trap, then water will flow out.

at best it will be less efficient, at worst some solids may struggle.

if you are thinking of tiling the floor, now would be a good time!

if not, then i would definitely lower the waste pipe.
