Saw a vacancy for a 'Heating Engineer/Plumber' and wondered what you may think of the requirements for £14.84 an hour?

I think they are asking a great deal for that rate of pay. It's essentially 2, if not 3, skilled jobs for a single skilled rate and not a very skilled rate at that. Oh and the Bank Holiday rates are single time with no days in lieu.

    HOURS OF WORK

You will be contracted to work 160 hours per 4-week period on a flexible basis. This means that your days and hours of work could vary each week, but you will always receive at least your contracted hours each period.

As XXXXXXXX is open 365 days of the year, your working hours will include weekends, public / bank holidays and during Christmas and / or New Year on a rota basis.

You can get those (forged) qualifications for a small fee and that is the type of employee they deserve.

Knowing where the job is I predict they'll be inundated.

    This is semi-retirement for a good pair of hands . . . .

You would make more money working as a handyman for half of the hours.
    The cheek of them!

I saw an invoice a couple of weeks ago for a lift engineer being charged out at £650 per day.

They should be named. So we can consider applying, of course.

If only we were still part of the NWO headquarters based in Brussels!
I'm sure we would be out there earning more money...

I suspect the above is Centrica/British Gas.

round my way plumbers are min £60ph and you can’t get a labourer for £15 an hour. Struggle to get some Ito mow the lawn for £20ph and the Romanian cleaner also charges £5 more per hour than that rate.

Many a member of CC would probably consider that a pay rise!

I’d like to get in on that before the doors close on that opportunity.
