The clear waterproof tape used to repair poly tunnels is good stuff . If it dries up enough i’ll test some on a lorry tarp to see if it sticks it

What about carpet joining tape?
That must be designed to stick to a fibrous material like the tarp??

It's vinyl like the stuff used on trucks and pick-ups, not the blue/green polythene or canvas stuff. It will be used outside!

In that case it is a monomeric plastic and your adhesive must be able to work.on monomeric plastics (many plastics are polymeric). This causes some signwriters endless problems as most of the vinyl they use for signage is polymeric - and it falls off truck curtains rather quickly

If you Google "lorry curtain repair tape" there is a product, but not cheap and claims to be "long lasting" rather than permanent but might do the job.
