What have you been doing today?

Did our usual dog walk this morning and our newest member, 13 week old Rosie, had her first proper swim. Unfortunately she panicked a bit and tried to climb up onto the head of the oldest member and nearly drowned her! Two of us were seconds away from jumping in to save the old 'un before Rosie finally jumped off and swam for the bank. The old one got a bit disoriented and went off in the wrong direction into a fallen tree. She eventually came back but needed helping out of the lake. Gave us a bit of a fright - we'll have to watch out for that in future. :cautious:

Tried to do a good deed today but had it thrown back in my face!

Near to me, the local authority are trying an 18 month traffic experiment (a.k.a. Revenue raising exercise:cautious:) whereby traffic exiting a side road MUST now turn left only - they can’t turn right or even go straight across. There are signs to say so as well as a HUGE arrow painted on the road with the words 'Turn left'. It’s been in operation for around four weeks now and plenty of people have been caught - it is monitored by cameras. As I was following someone down that side road just now, they indicated to turn right when they stopped at the junction. As I have done a couple of times in the past, I honked my horn, flashed my lights and waved out of my window to attract their attention. The ignorant, ungrateful **** still turned right but as he did so, he looked directly at me and gave me the finger. Even the motorist on the main road that he pulled out in front of, looked at me and held his hands up in exasperation at his actions. Oh well, I hope the photographic evidence he gets along with his £65 fine shows him giving me the rather expensive finger. :D

Went over the allotment to check on things and disaster! All my tomato plants were frazzled and dying. I only pinched them out three days ago and they were very healthy. Looking around, I saw other plot holders had the same problem and when I spoke to one of them, they said it was blight caused by too much rain. Oh well, at least it’s not something I did.

Oh, I had a little shock when I was turning out my compost bin - a colony of mice were living in there and they sprang out everywhere - made me jump.

Scaredy cat...

But the 'unseasonal' (make that the now normal) weather is wiping out crops all over the place...

Our climbing cucumbers are now ground dwelling...

So slug pellets the order of the day!

I was driving and was in the middle lane of a 3 lane road with cars all around me. The right lane was ending and there was a big arrow on the road telling drivers on the right lane to merge to the middle lane. There was a white BMW right next to me and being a nice guy , I let him through and then continued driving. This Essex English lady in her Range rover was behind the BMW. She horned at me and then pulled up next to me to tell me that the road's not going the other way.
EH?

went to the goodwood breakfast club this morning down at the circuit .

packed out

the theme was pre 1980 cars of any type

saw a fully restored Mk1 escort van there , owner said there are only 19 still on the road

old commercials are very rare tbh

Been in the garden since 7.00am giving it a good tidy up. Been so busy the last few weeks it hasn't been getting the attention it normally gets at a weekend.
The past couple of days has been spent clearing out 3 sheds, organising what remains in them and taking down the remaining section of rear fencing and back gate. All rubbish neatly stacked into a skip waiting for collection tomorrow. Be glad to get back to work for a rest before another weeks 'holiday' a week tomorrow.

Just getting ready to leave for my daily dog walk when I got a call from my friend who I normally walk with. She had been down to unlock the gates to a day ticket fishing lake she is looking after and as she got out at the gates she heard a noise and her rear tyre went down! Rather than wait for the RAC, I went out to change wheel for her as she had 4 dogs in a crate the back. How she got there without it suddenly deflating on the A12 I’ll never know. It’s a Honda CRV. I’ve seen front tyres with the wheel alignment badly out wear like that but I’ve never seen a rear tyre wear like that. All other tyres, same make and age, are fine. It had some surface cracking too. I told her to think about getting a new set all round.

Sat in a pub waiting for a meal to celebrate my 65th, got stung by a wasp which had flown up my sleeve and stung me twice on the shoulder, first time I have ever been stung, swollen up and red, the size of a saucer
