What have you been doing today?

I often suffer, with my eyes streaming, and painful. A couple of years ago, I bought, and tried to use some Optivive, to see if my problem might be due to 'dry eyes', despite them streaming. I'd never used anything for my eyes before, and just couldn't get the drops in my eyes, so the fluid sat there, unused, until Ev found it, and began using it.

Fast forward, to yesterday evening, the fluid now well out of date, and I was really in pain last night - my right eye, felt as if someone had sprayed acid in it. 'Dry' just didn't seem to match my eye problem, at all. Ev offered to try to get a couple of drops in. The relief was instant. After the pain of last night, I would have expected my right eye, to still be quite sore this morning, but no pain at all.

Went over the allotment and dug up all the plants in a strawberry bed from a plot that someone is moving from and replanted them in a bed on my plot. My brother-in-law is taking that plot over at the end of this month so I’m calling it my 'commission' for getting him in and jumping to the front of a very long queue. :ROFLMAO:

The Golf is up for its last MOT later this week so I am checking it over. Only needs a CV boot and a headlamp lens polish as far as I can tell. Once it has a years ticket on it, I’m having to get rid of it, all thanks to that **** Khan.

Scrub that. Still waiting for a cv boot that they said they had in stock. Can’t fit the old one back on as it’s in pieces now but only a tenner for the new one. Wished I’d never started it. CBA with getting it tested and then having all the tyre kickers coming round. Cancelled the MOT booking and I’m just going to scrap it when the mot expires in November. I’ll be sad to see it go - just dug out the paperwork and we bought it in December 2012 so nearly had it 13 years. It’s been a good second car and not a bad buy for £5,500.

Headlamps on my Vivaro are getting a little dull, is there a kit or do just use certain grades of paper then some G3 ?

How old is it?

I recently scrapped my 2008 SEAT Leon TDi (basically a golf in many ways). I didn't want to, however it was needing quite extensive welding to structural components so I decided to call it a day and send it to the motorway in the sky.

I'm still reeling going from a car that averaged 50ish MPG combined to one that'll do 28MPG on a good day :(

2008 with 140k on the clock (it had 60k on it when we bought it). Maybe not scrap it but sell it with a couple of weeks mot on it. If we didn’t live in the ULEZ zone, we'd definitely keep it. We had an ULEZ exemption until 2027 because of my mum having a blue badge. She passed away recently so the blue badge has gone back and the ULEZ exemption will be removed so it’s got to go. :( There’s a few things wrong with it which I CBA to do - headlining is sagging, drivers seat no longer goes up or down, small trolley dink on the passenger door, a small patch of rust on the passenger wing and it’s going to need a set of tyres all round soon. Nothing major but I’d rather just get rid of it as it is. I don’t think a fresh mot will add much to the value.

I cleaned mine up using elbow grease and some Cif on a cloth. I think I used toothpaste last time. Not hard to do. With a buffer in a drill, it would be a doddle.

Very fine abrasive paper, working eventually to the finest you can find, followed by G3/T-cut/or even toothpaste to get the final polish. The dull, will quickly come back, unless you then protect them from UV. I found that spaying the lens, with the same clear lacquer, as used on car paint work, worked just fine.

Whole staircase to be transformed into something spectacular

Well, I tried it on Facebook marketplace tonight and just like the A3, I had untold timewasters phoning me up and asking me to hold it for them. Of course half of them offered insulting offers so I just ignored them and none of them wanted to put a deposit and one bloke got quite quite affronted when I wouldn’t save it for him and told me "If I give my word, I give my word". Pillock, that means f'ck all from an anon on the internet. Just like the A3, I took it off after 15 minutes. I put it on Autotrader for £550. I did mention that I would still be using it until 26th October. After a few calls, someone offered me the full price over the phone, sent me a £50 deposit and said he'd pick it up on the 26th so I removed the advert. I think that’s the longest we've owned a car so I really will be sad to see it go. Bloody Khan!
