Dog has perked up, had her tablets stuffed in cheese wrapped with ham. Had a hobble in the garden and a wee. Had a look at the bill, the actual cost of the vet doing the op was about £500, the rest was made up of all and sundry.

Ordered meds for the missus from Boots. They sent the wrong med. Checked on the net and turns out the manufacturer just rebranded the med. lol

We've had some strong bills with cats over the years. Once had to take our cat from Bristol to Newmarket to the Animal Health Trust because it was the nearest place with an available MRI scanner. That was £1000 just for scan and overnight stay. After that little episode got signed up for insurance tout suite.

Suppose have to remember we're employing the services of a professional plus all their overheads. Ain't ever going to be cheap.

I mentioned the vets surgery fee as I thought, for a professionals skill, it was quite reasonable. I decided against insurance as she was a re homed dog, and she is 9 years old, plus if we insure her now, they won't cover that injury again, though not sure if the other 3 legs would be insured.

I've not bothered with the two moggies this time, most of the time it's above the excess anyway, I've probably jinxed it now obviously.

I used to have dog insurance, but having a rare breed it was over £500

If I ever made a claim I figured the renewal would be silly money.

So now I just pay for accident cover and put over £50 a month into a savings account for vets bills.

What sort of blackberry bush is that? Doesn't look like brambles I normally get blackberries from in hedgerow - unless my eyes deceive me.

It's Oregon thornless.

It has prettier leaves for a garden and er no thorns.

God, you're all dead soft. Why not ask how much to have put down? (It's a joke) I paid £2000 to have my aged cats thyroid radio destroyed. Gave him another 2 years.

Didn't know thornless were available. Might get one. Like blackberries, but wouldn't want to cultivate normal brambles in my garden.

I paid £2000 to have my aged cats thyroid radio destroyed. Gave him another 2 years.

Wish we'd gone that route with one of our other cats. Chose pills instead. Was a pain having to do regular blood tests and get the right level of Felimazole in his system.

Yeah, been down that route, just became uncontrollable, he'd even had a thyroidectomy, was a stark choice, put down or have the thyroid radioactivelly destroyed.
