What have you been doing today?

Well that was a waste of time. Appeal dismissed. £60 instead of £30 because they dragged it out past the time to get a discount rate by paying early. Those that run this borough are proper money-grabbing ****s.
Well that's a rip-off.

I'm sure our council allows an appeal and if it is disallowed, you are back to where you were before you appealed: IE owing the reduced fee.

I'm sure that's against the rules.

Did they disagree their poor lighting and siht text layout was bad?

Nope. Basically said "tough shìt, those are the rules, we will not be discussing this any further".

Wow.

That would make me see red.
Mind you, Manchester City Council have p+ss poor signage and charge through the nose for drivers going into bus lanes. All the local papers have carried articles highlighting it and complaining about it. Have they done anything about it?

Have they bu99ery....

These corps get away with it because people are too busy to take them on and end up paying up.
If everyone who got fined unfairly fought back, they'd soon change things.

Had a great time at a family wedding yesterday, only complaint was the bloody speeches - they went on and on and on. The groom couldn’t put the mic down, the father of the brides speech was short and sweet but he had three best men and they all took over 10 minutes each with their speeches. The second best man’s speech was hardly uplifting. He said it was the third time he had been a best man. The first marriage ended in divorce and the second one turned gay but he wished luck to the new groom. Just over 50 minutes in total. The only light relief between speeches was when our grandson who was getting restless announced for all to hear "I'm tired!”. Anyway, we had a 4 bedroom section of the priory to stay in and this morning we had a complimentary hamper of pastries, cheeses and continental meats delivered for breakfast. We left just after 10.00 and went for brunch on the seafront of Clacton. Had a nice brunch but of course the grandson wanted to go in the amusements on the pier. That’s two hours of my life I’ll never get back again. It was mobbed, noisy and if I never see an amusement arcade again it will be too soon. Of course, our grandson loved it but not as much as our grandaughter!

Look at the smile on her chops!

Got home and found this card from the vets that wiped the smile off both our faces and reminded us that we have to collect her remains when we can steel ourselves. :(

A bittersweet day for us.

Sorry to hear about Susie, I know how awful it is.

A bit of weeding and watering over the allotment. Took a load of mine and my allotment neighbours allotment rubbish to the tip. Cut some of my first asparagus to have with my poached egg breakfast tomorrow morning.

This house is so empty without our Susie. Went up the vets to pick up her ashes today. I couldn’t go in. I stayed in the car blubbing like an idiot. In fact to be honest, I started blubbing on the way there. Mrs Mottie went in and collected her. We both had a good cry when we got her home. We’re okay now but I know it’ll start up again when we eventually scatter them even if it’s in ten years time. After we both calmed down we started talking about the changes we've noticed with her not being here anymore. Silly things like not having her under our feet when we are cooking, not having to worry about how long we are out of the house for or squeezing up on the sofa to make room for her but what made us both laugh was not worrying where we are putting our feet when crossing the lawn in case we came across any surprise packages of hers that we had missed. We are slowly getting used to it now but at the same time, feeling guilty about that too!

Mrs Mottie has got it into her head that 'we' are going to completely decorate and carpet three bedrooms and a bathroom this year. I made a start on the small bedroom today, I cleared it all out and got my mate round to plaster the artexed ceiling. It’s been artexed since we moved here in 1990. He annoys me, again, he would not accept payment at all, not even for the bag of plaster he bought. I feel like a right ponce asking him but he absolutely insists he will never charge me as I’ve helped him out with his cars for over 40 years. I reminded him I don’t have the workshop any more so there’s not much I’ll be able to do for him in the future but he says he owes me big time anyway. I still have another bigger bedroom that needs the Artexed ceiling plastered and he insists he is going to do that for free too. Mrs Mottie is annoyed with me for asking him and says we should get someone else in and pay them. He told me he'd be annoyed if I did get someone else in and as he's winding down his work these days, he says that he's available to help me whenever I want. I'm torn, I can’t win!

Tricky one. Maybe buy him a nice hamper and take him and his missus out for a meal.
