What have you been doing today?

OMG went to the gym earlier after my big drinking day had finished. Now torn a muscle in my shoulder because I was a bit typsy. Lesson to everyone, don't lift weights drunk!!!!!

I've had the big double-extension ladders up now, for what seems like a couple of weeks, on the drive, awaiting a suitable opportunity, to swap the old LPS yellow light fitting, for a more modern HPS white light. Mid-week, the weather allowed me to try to get up there, but I went dizzy, half-way up, so I had to call it off, and seek out some help. The cavalry arrived this morning, and at last got the job done, tested, and working.

No wonder the old fitting didn't emit much light, it was part full of water, and the inside of the lens, absolutely filthy.

More painting round my mums house. Getting really, really, really fed up with it now. My sister is back from Thailand today so she can do all the woodwork. I’m emulsion only. Haven’t the patience for woodwork. Just got to put a bit of filler in some cracks in a wall later today and I can paint that section tomorrow then the emulsion is all done. Just the outside front of the bungalow to do. I've got a painter that lives next door to me and I might get him to do it. Would like to get it all finished by the end of the year so it can go on the market in early January.

Swapping SOX for SON?

Aren't there LED alternatives?

This once very expensive fitting, cost me £0.00, and they are as efficient as LED - so why not make use of it?
We convert all of sox E and SON-T to LED for greater efficiency. Once the ballast goes it is an expensive repair and the bulbs are becoming very expensive, it all outweighs the value of the fitting.

Yep, I appreciate all that, but I had the fitting, and spare lamps in stock, but it had a failed ballast of type no longer available. Rocky, kindly donated three electrically compatibles, though not physically, making the exercise worth-while. I was able to mount the ballast unit indoors, the other side of the wall.

Yes we replace the ballasts with the electronic ballasts as it has everything built into it, igniter and no need for the capacitor. We have large stocks of replacement parts for every light imaginable, we only repair specials that are period lights and of historical value with the parts, everyday SON-T etc is rewired to LED preserving the fitting. We have LED replacement bulbs that utilise the existing ballast but once the ballast fails we can simply bypass the ballast and use straight 240v. The same LED replacements that we use can run on either.

Waved our daughter and her bloody cats goodbye today. She's gone home, new bathroom in her house is finally finished. Glad to see the back of her! Coming round here complaining that I walk from our bedroom to the bathroom naked, complaining that we have our dinner too early, complaining that I take a pïss with the door open, complaining that I’m in the shower when I should know she's coming home from her nightly run (in training for the marathon), complaining about …….. just about everything. I’ve got a lot more respect for her husband now, just for putting up with her! :ROFLMAO: Anyway, Mrs Mottie has spent all afternoon cleaning the place and I’ve had to go up in the loft to get all the ornaments, houseplants and Knick knacks back out as we had to completely clear all the shelves as the cats were knocking things off left right and centre - no respect for our property! Mrs Mottie was particularly upset when one of them knocked off and broke a China biscuit barrel and again when they knocked off and smashed a photo frame. They’ve scratched all the sofa's and pulled up some carpet on the landing outside the bedrooms when they wanted to get in. We've had cats before but they were nowhere as bad as these two bastards. Glad to see the back of them.
