We’ve just had our Miele washing machine repaired under warranty this morning. While the engineer was here, he mentioned the steam programme. We’ve never used it but he said it gets creases out of things. I read up on it and you use it at the end of some wash cycles or you can just bung worn but not dirty items in there and it steam freshens 'em without using any detergent. Just tried it on a pair of jeans. Bloody marvellous - I reckon when dry, they won’t even need ironing!

That was 5 years ago and I’m trying it out right now for the second time in 11 years on a clean but creased dress shirt that I can hopefully wear to a wedding tomorrow. Mrs Mottie will not be pleased if it shrinks. Fingers crossed.
