What have you been doing today?

Harvested the last of this years asparagus crop from the plot of Mott. They have started to Fern out so I’ll let any others go to Fern to build up the root stock for next seasons. I’m glad - I was getting sick of eating it every other day proving that you can have too much of a good thing!
Right, asparagus season is over so from now on I’ll be mostly eating……purple sprouting broccoli.

Went to the allotment today and picked some to have steamed, with Hachis Parmentier (look it up ;) ) for tonight’s dinner.

OMG - trying to deal with our Multi car policy held by Admiral. God what a terrible company they are. Truly awful to deal with.

Thankfully got a slightly cheaper price from LV so Admiral will be no more

We have one of ours with LV. Swapped from Churchill only yesterday who were not very nice and a couple of hundred quid dearer for less coverage - no driving of other cars and no cover for Europe.

Just been to the vets, my last little pal Brian passed away this morning. Devasted is the only wayI can describe of how we both feel. Can't stop crying and staring at his bowls and bed and toys. This will take some getting over.

I feel for you mate. We're still not fully over losing our Susie just over a year ago now. It does take time and it should too.

A bit more work on my adopted postbox patch down my street. One of the local ladies bought some more plants in a sale, planted them and gave it a good weeding. I disposed of the weeds and rubbish and me and Mrs Mottie have been running back and forth watering them in. If I say so myself, it looks bloody fantastic and it has stopped people chucking litter and letting their dogs shìt on there! There are three adopted beds like that down our road now. It’s brought a bit of pride to our street.

This is how it was:

Been over our daughters this weekend. She’s on holiday with her husband and asked us to pop over to her place in North London to spend some quality time with her cat! She’s got a cat sitter coming in every day to check on it and it can come and go through the cat flap but she thought it might be getting lonely. We decided to stay the night and booked a restaurant for Saturday night and this morning we went to a local farmers market in Forty Hall. The sort of place where you can buy organic produce for ten times the price of supermarket stuff! Anyway, while we were there we completely sorted out her garden and I sorted out her allotment too - planted some plants that I had given her weeks ago. Should be a surprise for them when they come home tomorrow. Both of us are knackered though. Only good thing was that the allotment wasn’t too far to travel to. Here’s a pic of the allotment gates from her front door!

Forty Hall, I was called to unblock a drainline after unblocking the drains my van got stuck in the mud. They had to get a farmers tractor to pull me out, this completely ruined the field, this was the field that they take pictures for all of the weddings.

Found out something new about the car we bought last September. I know it automatically goes into recirculating air mode when using the windscreen washers (to stop smells entering the cabin) and when entering a tunnel, but coming home from from our daughters house today, we were on the M25 and we have to go through 2 tunnels. I had the windows down but just before we entered the tunnel, they closed on their own and when we came out, they opened automatically. I was over the moon with this and commented to Mrs Mottie but she showed no interest whatsoever and muttered something about me being a brick or something…..
