Mowed the green at the top of our estate - took ages and I clocked up over 5000 steps on that alone. Then, a late evening dash to the allotment to chuck some water about as I haven’t been there for a couple of days. More bloody courgettes, I’m sick of 'em and the main people that used to have them off me last year don't want them this year as I foolishly gave them all a couple of plants each and now they are overrun with them themselves! Picked them though and left them on my front wall for neighbours to take. Coming up in a few months will be a glut of pumpkins and butternut squash!

Got the grandkids staying while our son and his wife have gone away for the weekend. Been to a country park and then they gave me a hand at the allotment harvesting some veg for dinner tonight and tomorrow. New potatoes, French beans, cucumber, beetroot and corn. We then went on my brother in laws plot and helped ourself to his raspberries. House is like a tip, Mrs Mottie is up trying to get the youngest to go to sleep, the 7 year old reckons he’s staying up to watch England tonight but I reckon he’ll drop off way before then and will have to be carried up the wooden stairs to Bedfordshire. Bloody knackering.

He went up when it was 1-0. We’ve got the baby in with us. Trouble is, she has one of those bloody white noise machines that keeps me awake. I’m off to bed now - at 4-1 we should win this one even if agent Touchel chucks 5 on in defence again!

Grandkids have not long gone home and we have just tidied up the house. The younger one is like the Duracell bunny - she just does not stop. We are both physically and mentally drained. I feel an early night coming on…….
