Michael Barnier looked fresh, confident, presentable and talked of progress and process.
David Davis looked hot, disheveled almost, and reverted to the usual phraseology.
.
Well Sherlock..Thats brexit sorted then

What is the best Brexit deal we can realistically achieve?

"Best" would be the one that optimised the value of the benefits we want to gain, and minimised the cost of the problems we hope to avoid.

Unfortunately nobody (probably not even David and his boss of the week) has said what our priorities are, and what each is worth. The citizens have not voted for the sort of deal the country wants. None of the Quitters (especially on here), before the referendum and after, would say which of the four options they wanted.

This will be so that, at the end of the talks, Theresa can show us her barrowload of assorted terms and say "look what a good deal I got!"

The Quitters are very worried that, when this heap of manure is shown to the citizens of Britain, they will say "not bloody likely!" and vote to rescind Brexit. This is a great problem to the dwindling band of committed Brexiteers, especially since they discovered that the under-45s, and even the under 25s, know how to vote, and are willing to get out of bed to do it.

Are you confident that there will be another vote to allow rescinding Brexit? I'm not aware of another vote happening.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no vote scheduled as of 14.45 today.

If you're interested in these things, no doubt you keep an eye on public attitudes and changes in voting patterns.

What was unusual about voting in Theresa's calamitous little election?

It's funny how people get these ideas about their own country being different to all the others.
But the UK is different to all other countries. It is what has made this tiny group of islands such a big player on the world stage and has made the UK both loved and hated and our ability to totally bamboozle the opposition with our appearance of organised chaos.. and then do well.

But the UK is different to all other countries.

Yeah, course it is.
And France is different to all other countries.
And Somalia is different to all other countries.
And Sweden is different to all other countries.
And Australia is different to all other countries.
And Russia is different to all other countries.
And Norway is different to all other countries.

do you see a pattern yet?

Yep.. isn't it great to have so many countries that are different? It would be horrid if we were all the same.. Did you have a point?

Let the Government work out a deal and then let the public vote on it.

Those of us who could read, voted on the fact that there may not be a deal.. why do you want another vote, it's not our fault that you couldn't read or understand what was being said... Perhaps it is the fault of the education system where kids have been taught that there are no losers.. The truth has come as a nasty shock to the younger generation.. your teachers and lecturers lied to you.
