20mm gap. Old wood left in. Tons of foam but still draughty. Trims fell off by the way; they had been nailed to the foam. No way of re-attaching a trim. Advice please.

You can stick trim back on using silicone sealer ( the type that has the vinegar smell)...... It's best to hold it on with masking tape or whatever.
It could be a good move to refill gaps with the expanding foam and when it's cured, cut it nice and flat before sticking the trim back on.
John :)

Thanks. Got those things 'cos I've just moved in, been filling gaps EVERYWHERE! I'll give it a go, cheaper than replacement for now.

The windows look fairly new, Can you not get the fitters to come back and fix it under their guarantee?

Nope, just moved in. They won't tell me who fitted them. No fensa certificate and they weren't written off by building regs either. I have got indemnity insurance. This obviously means they were installed badly (which they were).

Box it in with upvc. Square trim stuck to the top of the window and then flat up to the ceiling will cost about a tenner

I like the idea of boxing it in right the way up. Covers all the bad bits. I've foamed the gaps; so no Draughts now. Just has to be made good. Thanks for the suggestions guys! Now the difficult bit, getting someone to do the job.
