What would you do ?

I would stick up for them, tell the youngsters to sling their hooks and check the geezer is OK.

If they were hungry or thirsty or cold, I'd buy them food, drink or clothing/ blankets, but I wouldn't always give them money.
 
I rarely give money to beggars but I do ask if they are hungry or thirsty and I will buy them a meal or a drink. If someone was behaving the way these actors were portraying on the street I would intervene.

Much to my wifes apprehension I have intervened when we have come across similar behaviour. As I approach she will be pulling out her phone to call the police. As she is disabled I will not allow her to get near in case things flare up but at least she can video/describe who they are and what is happening.
We don't give money but we will buy them food and non-alcoholic drink. Starting mid December we will also pick up various clothing/bedding from charity shops and distribute them to those who need them.
 
Fair enough they were actors and those who intervened did right

but in some circumstances intervention with some of these nasty people could lead to
You ending up as a hospital

So, it is broad daylight and you see (from a distance) a homeless person being assaulted by three teenage lads. Is it right to turn and walk away?
 
I asked if it was right. You didn't answer that simple question
 
I blame kids watching adult material depraved **** and sick video games like gta, what a time to be alive, you reap what you sow.
 
Lack of discipline in schools is a result of lack of discipline in the home to start with. Parents are the prime source of discipline, respect and learning. If this is taught at home from a very early age then it will be easier to continue as they grow. By discipline I don't mean corporal punishment either. Denial methods are much more effective, especially when the child has to earn the right to be given their toy/privilege back by doing extra chores or helping their siblings.
Schools should have the right to continue that discipline whilst they are in loco parentis.
