Hi,
I am just looking for some advice please on why this design of sheeting

We have a detached house in Brixham.

The front of the house has the damp proof membrane sheet cut (picture 1 shows the front and where the sheet is cut about 2 bricks above ground level)

The side of the house has the damp proof membrane sheet cut (picture 2 shows the side and where the sheet is cut about 2 bricks above ground level)

The other side of the house has the damp proof membrane sheet coming out of the ground level and then comes up the side of the house covering the first 2 courses of bricks and then it goes back in to the brick wall (picture 4 shows the rear and where the sheet is covering the first 2 course of bricks)

The rear of the house has the damp proof membrane sheet coming out of the ground level and then comes up the side of the house covering the first 2 courses of bricks and then it goes back in to the brick wall (picture 4 shows the rear and where the sheet is covering the first 2 course of bricks)

The sheet is black and quite thick.

Is it due to the builder having to build the side and rear below ground ?

Many thanks in advance.

It is damp proof course you are referring to.

by the way in image 2, 1 course below the DPC there is a radon gas DPM.

I can’t really see what you mean in the other images, they aren’t clear

Thanks for the reply.
Is the radon gas DPM the yellow sheet please ?
If it is the yellow sheet does it span the full floor ?

I've re-attached some more photos. It's just at the rear and one side of the property where the damp proof course comes out of the external brickwork at ground level and comes up the outer external wall for 2 courses of brickwork and then goes back in between the 2nd and 3rd course of bricks ?

Hope this is ok.
