Why metal junction box for SWA cable?

I managed to terminate 6 flexes in one of those once, all with glands, so i cant see how 1 or 2 SWA glands would be a problem, they aren't that much bigger inside the box are they?

They project a bit further - might foul the raised centre portion.

Might well not, but it would be worth checking, if possible, before buying.
