Wind Turbines

So the British consumer subsidises the foreign taxpayer.
True but once things go that way all a gov can do is buy back and carry any debt that has accumulated, significant where they have been privitised but will always figure. They can only do that via taxation. Some interesting comparisons

While it strays into off topic as NHS efficiency, excellent when it is working and also the results of a low wage economy I'll include this as it helps explain differences in one case, Some are better than others so costs vary.

Water companies, for example, have taken out vast loans since privatisation, and coincidentally paid their owners vast dividends.

The cost of interest on these vast loans is charged to customers.

It is interesting to reflect that until recently, government was able to borrow at near-zero interest rates, for example if they were to take ownership of a company whose debts exceeded its assets.

In other news,

People seem to forget it's indirect taxation as well. Corporation tax. An early summary of the benifits of privatization pointed this out rather clearly - nice little earner for the treasury.

Anyway it will take yonks for a lot of people to realise that one suite doesn't fit all. The Tory also make it all out identical material.Help with a loan etc.

I was very interested in the use of the word "If"

"If they can divert it elsewhere"

Is the author of your article suggesting that this is the case?

The flat earthers Andy follows think there is a flywheel they use to store all the excess power. He posted it a while back.

National Grid..........is, for the first time, activating............ which allows.................blah blah blah. More communism.

Good to see they are spinning again, producing over 15 GW (more than half UK demand)

Gas is ticking over at 3.6GW. A bit less than we are currently selling to France.

I wonder if pedals can be attached to the wind turbines so that the unemployed could get them spinning on still days?

Probably a bit difficult for a single pedaller, but what about a row of pedallers, on a sort of multi-tandem? Or a treadmill. Get all the prisoners on it.

Same again.

We are saving a huge amount of gas.

According to THIS article, if the U.K. produced 99.9% of it's electricity for free, it still wouldn’t be any cheaper for us, the end user.

Yes and no. If we still used ultra expensive gas Peaker plants for that last 0.1% then the price to us would not change as the most expensive supplier sets the market rate.

But, batteries are replacing Peaker plants and where they've been installed they've sold power back notably cheaper than gas Peaker plants and effectively capped the cost. 0.1% of UK power demand is about 400MW, that's a single large battery system, or pumped hydro plant.

Also, if the electricity was mostly from low CfD contracts then we would receive a large discount as the excess profit would be paid back to us.

Thatcherite privatisation of national assets achieved its goal of increasing the wealth of private investors, many of them overseas, and of foreign governments, and continues to do so.

OOI, the public at large is becoming aware of this damaging folly.
