Hello,

I am looking for some advice for wiring in 5 amp lighting sockets. The requirements are below.

1) Will be dimmable (possibly LED)
2)Will be controlled from the main light switch on a separate channel/way
3)There will be more than one socket per room.

I have had a number of opinions including looping neutrals from one socket to another and bringing both live and neutrals to each switch.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I would feed the switch with a Line and Neutral, and then take a switched line and neutral to each socket that is to be controlled by that switch using the easiest & most convenient way possible (daisy-chaining, branching) or whatever, depending on the socket locations.

Other ways exist e.g. using junction box (yuk) or by having a ceiling-rose-style arrangement at one socket using a connector block for the loop. But I would favour feeding the switch.
