Are the "Z" cars actually fearsome Ford Anglias or Austin 1100s in pale blue and white doors. And the criminals have Jags?

And does the copper say "OK, sonny come along now" and the naughty boy replies "Ok guv'ner, you've got me bang to rights"?

Yes, those were peaceful days before knives were invented.
