Homeless

Why didn't she take in a lodger?

Or downsize?

Claim incapacity benefit?

The mortgage would have been about £15 per MONTH

you cannot claim incapacity benefit if you can get out the house and pass the test
it is really really strict now
its a private company that assess the people the form is a blunt instrument with nothing between yes and no
for example can you walk around 20metres if they can manage this say on 2 days in the summer every other year the answer is not 1% off the time its yes
can they tie your shoe laces
can they reach the toilet unaided
they can have one functioning limb and still be required to look for work if they pass the assessment unless common sense prevails on appeal
even then its not the end off the story they can send them for another assessment in a few months time and go through the whole procedure again
they can be house bound and they will suggest with the aid off a wheel chair they do not have you could go out and find work
if they appeal against the decision and fail they will have to go on dissability and employment allowance and attend the job center every fortnight to look for work

Well just take in a lodger for £50 per week.

Personally id go feral in the countryside lol

I can catch, kill, cook my own food. Build shelter, light a fire jobs a good un.

What was shocking was the Woman that had her House Repossessed by the Bank because she owed £9k on a house worth £104k because she was ill and couldnt pay the interest.
What are Banks for if they cant help their clients, she had adaquate equity in the property

Do you mean to say she had 9K worth of mortgage payments overdue, or that she had paid off all but 9k of her mortgage?

If the latter, then Joe's probably not far off with his estimate.

Missus failed the test (done by ATOS), just over a year ago. Questions included such gems as,, "Can you make a cup of tea unaided?" "Can you make a sandwich or open a tin of soup unaided? " " Can you sit for 1 hr without feeling discomfort?"
I think the only medically qualified person in the building was the one with the first aid at work certificate.
Her appeal went through a month ago and the tribunal upheld her appeal stating that, "In our opinion, this person was hopelessly assessed by ATOS. They took no notice of any medical history or doctors reports."

Says it all about the system of testing introduced by the government, whereby the company doing the testing are paid by results.

I bet she can walk to the pub and around the supermarket though. How disabled is disabled?

hold up a bank armed with a cucumber or summat. 10-15 years free accommodation, 3 meals a day, free dental and medical attention... sounds not too shabby !!

2,181 people sleep rough on any one night in England (Autumn 2011)
An estimated 450 people sleep rough on any one night in London
5,678 different people slept rough over a year in London (2011-2012

Remember those figures when yous are laying up quaffing wine and champange over the festive period.

Slept rough on the streets for 8 nights in a row and have a tiny inkling of just what its like.
You sure don't half stink, though you don't notice after a few days.

Its a great incentive to work hard and try to stay above that level.
And does the soul a power of good.

Just dont be put into Belmarsh or Bedford ;-)

Norcon, try 4 months. Dec 1997- March 1998.

She can't walk 50m without stopping to catch her breath. A trip around the supermarket involves a wheelchair and one of their special trolleys.
(Mind you Joe wouldn't be happy unless she was quadriplegic and in a coma)

Some places in Spain have been telling the bank to naff off, on repossesiones the local coucils have been threatening to pull the plug on them if they go ahead ,It seem's to have worked.I t just takes some people to have the ball's

Obviously very different council officials to the one we have in this country. A right sorry collection of clipboard-wielding, limp no-hopers.

Anyhow, nobody in this country has the nous to stick together. Would have to get a lot worse before people woke up, turned off the footie/Corrie, stopped gawking at this month's latest iphone/Nintendo and stopped dulling their senses with super strength pilsner and whacky baccy.

No hope at all! :(

Oh yea right, our councils should just arbitrarily flout the law, clipboard-wielding limp no-hopers.

I'm sure their attitude does them great at attracting business, after all look at their powerhouse of an economy.

Oh, and joe, please brush up on your trolling skills, they lack finesse.
