testers

The Megger!

If thats your choice its just between an all in one or separates.

Personally I like an all in one tester. Only one calibration cost but you lose everything if its away for repair etc.

Which models of each are you thinking about?

the fluke 1652 all in one

there both at the same price at the minute but probably get that 1

Hello Leeco.

The only problem I found with the Fluke 1650 series was the fact that the test 'leads' are not of the same quality as the meter itself.

Taylor2 - His choice does not include a megger!

I would go for the Fluke - with a set of meggar leads ;-)

The bottom pic is of some rather outdated (but very stable and well used) kit. The bottom pic is also missing a tester ;-)

Megger for me the Megger MFT1550 range I particularly like, thou as pointed out if need to go for repair you're a bit stuffed :(

My 1502 has started sapping its batteries whilst turned off so time to go for a medical

However I am toying with buying the MR Kewtech all in one as a back up, reasonably priced and a mate has one and he loves it :!:

Definitely get spare leads if you're buying the Fluke - the croc clips are RUBBISH! On the other hand, the remote test button on the L1 probe is a godsend - make sure it's included in your kit.

thanks for the replys

i bought the fluke tester £400+pp, not bad i didn't think as some on ebay are £800+ but they are brand new. it comes with new test leads lets hope their megger ones :D

Know what you're going throu Taylor2.

I did ours at home had to lift boards above and one person feeding from below and the other catching and seating from above!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Megger!

Was my rather poor attempt at humour after another apalling day - this time cutting holes in lath & plaster ceiling for downlights :x think I'll do industrial instead of domestic......

I remember those!!

I used to cut the holes, then fill the edge with finish mixed with pva to try and "bond" the plaster and lath to each other to stop it falling to bits.
