Harry and pack1

I know several black gents who do exactly that with no offence intended. What's the problem ?

So what if I'm black? I'm standing there and take offence at the remark? The word doesn't have to be directed at someone for them to take offence.

If I'm out and I hear the word being used I try to ignore the ignorance of those using it but if I'm out with my young son and he over hears it he's going to ask me what it means, why they said it, why is it ok for those men to say it but not me daddy, why is it a bad word etc etc.

Similarly, if I'm out and I hear foul language, if my son is with me I don't want him listening/repeating it. I have been in situations where I have had to physically remove my son just because a group of people want to use either the 'N' word and/or foul language.
That's the PROBLEM!

So are you saying noseall that it is ok for a black person to call another black person 'N' if the person using the word does not intend to cause offence and/or the person being called does not find it offensive?

Why do they do it.....because they can.....it pokes fun at our over sensitivity at the whole race issue.

Look within some of our ethnic cultures if you want to see real race hatred.

It is not the words spoken it is the emotion behind the words.

The differences in the use of the N word are very subtle and have different origins.

Whne black youths use the word they are using the Gangsta / Rapper meaning / spelling ending in GA and use it as complimet / bigup to their mate.

The racist use of the word is the spelling ending in ER and this is what black people will always say white people have used if called it even if not meant in that way.

Lets suppose there is a racist thug walking the streets. At jews, he shouts "***". At black people he shouts "******" at asian people he shouts "****". At moslems and sikhs he shouts "***-****"

Those are racist insults. They are intended as such and they are taken as such.

If another person shouts those same words, there is a considerable risk that they will be taken as insults, and the person who is shouting them will be taken as a racist. He has no-one to blame but himself for the impression he gives.

By the same token, you are unwise to call someone "fat pig" or "cripple" or "spastic" or "****" especially if they are one.

Oh, that hurt me to the quick. ;)

Interesting that **** etc falls foul of the auto censor, yet ****, spaz etc don't....

Just an observation

Two West Indian youths talking and one says something really stupid and the other calls him a thick African, is that racist.

The name calling whatever it may be is all part of the ethos of work, You have to bond with your work mates otherwise your life in a working environment is going to be ****e.
We had a mad union PC guy who asked me if I objected to being called Taffy (surname Jones) I said no I was born in Birmingham (someone has to be).
It was then I decided his nickname should be PC, and it was agreed with work mates. He was really pleased until after about a year an apprentice informed him that pc stood for Pure Cxxt

You just not going to get away with calling people pak1s and rag heads when you in line for the thrown lets be honest

I use Pak1 often, I dont however use it to their face as they may take offence..but I will say 'im popping down the pakis for a newspaper'...I dont see it as a racist slur, its not meant as one, the people im talking about gave my daughter her first job, they are very nice honest (ok, except for the time they got caught selling snide fags!!) hardworking peple

The father wears a turban..i wouldnt dream of refering to him as a 'rag head'..and thats where ginge overstepped the mark in my opinion.

It becomes offensive when its used out of context..to me its now no worse than Jock, Mick or Taff..and its certainly better than Kraut, frog and spic..

I worked for an Indian guy..he gave me my first job as a mechanics goofa before I left school...while working on a car another one of 'his lot' walked by and he said 'I hate those pak1 *****...i could beleive what id heard..at 15 they are all the same aint they (no)

And that brings me to the point that 'pak1'...has now rightly or wrongly become a generic name for anyone with more than a bit of a tan...I hear it all the time...

'Hey your accountants a pak1 isnt he whats hes number mate'..(hes indian)

'that new pak1 in the hamburger shop does a good kebab'..(hes iranian)

'whats that pak1 traffic wardens name'...(hes sudanise!)

My accountant takes offence...big time, because hes an Indian!

good post zampa i go to the p aki shop for my beer
its called the kangaroo and its a gas station but its habit it aint racict
some of my best freinds in the uk are bangladeshies

i can pick the phone up and get fed and worry about the bill tomorrow

and some pratts still call me a racist cos i call them musthafa but they stick up for me why ???

they couldnt give a damn

i think a lot of it is in the perception
