ive currently had my loft converted for my music room/office

ive got a ladder entry

i have 1 problem, my desk is so long and its really dangerous when i stand in a certain place incase i fall down the latch

has anyone any recomendations to what i could cover the hatch with so i dont end up breaking my neck!

i dont want a banister as i have alot of big stuff going in and out and it will make it a nightmare to get in

ive looked through dozens of sites but no solutions!

pleasseee help :)

heeelllooo and welcome Dannybond1 :D :D :D :D

better to be safe and sorry and have a frame of some sort that un-bolts

have you got a picture or a diagram as to whats involved!!!

how about a bit of good old fashioned 18mm ply to just cover the hole once you are up there, it's a radical idea but it might just work.

I hope you have not paid for a 'proper' conversion?

This would require building regs approval, and a ladder is a no-no and a major fire safety issue

If the builders have told you that this is acceptable, then they are wrong

And your house insurance is likely to be invalid - and your own insurance too if you fall down the hatch opening

Lets just hope that while the ply board covers the opening, unbeknown to you, the ladder and landing don't burn while you strum away on your violin in a Nero type fashion
