We all know how shockingly poor the BG service is, their 'Engineers' are no more than parts changers, poorly trained & with limited experience - with the main priority being selling more to the unsuspecting public and, mainly OAPs!!!

I don't see how you can unless you work for them and then you are only judging a tiny minority in a restricted area, it's certainly not a description I recognize in the main.

Well yes, brokn parts on systems are changed. There is a perception that bg always return time after time and compared to many independants they do due to the fact they do not have the option of ignoring customers when they need follow up.

I'm not sure nvq2 and 3 in gas, ccn1 and all the elements (not met1) at an independant acs centre, constant assessments on the job and post complete, energy, unvented, monthly updates, mobile training etc is poor

Not main, but certainly a big and contentious issue, although every independant here also sells their products and services.

It will be mainly oaps, that is by far bg's largest demographic.

because in times gone by a good many BG engineers would be in the habit of throwing parts at boilers to get them working as oppossed to proper fault finding methods. This, however, is becoming less common as BG management have tried to drive materials costs into the ground. Engineers are now pushed to use helplines and technical info available at there disposal before proceeding with ordering spares. Those with high parts costs are hounded and dragged into review meetings. Parts which weren't needed are expected to be removed, repackaged and sent back. This was what was happening when I was a TSM 4yrs ago, no doubt its got worse since, so the days of the true "BG parts changer" are well and truly numbered! RIP Parts changers

brown bose aye??wtf??.as ive said b4 cant understand why installers slag off bg??they have 9000 engineers and plumbers narrow them down to all parts chuckers and crap engineers??complete bulllshit to be honest.they have more fault finding info available to them than any white van man so u are never gonna thro parts at a boiler unless its an intermittant fault etc in whichcase uhave 2 think bout customer and try a couple of parts.half the plumbers out there dont even own a performance tester and they are servicing zero governor appliances!!!!!!!

Yeh tbh I would agree with you and I've said this before many times but I'll say it again.....The average ability of BG engineers is quite a bit above that of the average independant..However, some of the best engineers are independants, its just they make up a minority. The amount of bad independants and small companies is horrendous, you only have to go on a boiler manufacturer training day to see it for yourself, or stand in a plumb center in the morning and listen to the carp that comes out of some of them.
