Alex Higgins.. your views..?

since we are not allowed to post negative comments about Alex higgins on the thread entitled RIP Alex Higgins because the OP asked us not to and MOD 10 is enforcing that with a vengance, I thought that I'd start a thread where as the OP I can say that I don't care what you write about him.
Your personal views on him don't bother me in the slightest.. so have at it..

Whatever the mans failings ,and we all have them, Alex gave us some brilliant entertainment when at the height of his career. He made snooker interesting again and brought a load of new fans to the sport.
let the guy rest in peace.

You're not nice at all with this one Coljy'. Nobody's perfect, and we all live our lives in our own way,, for better or worse. Taking things to the extreme, (drink, fags, drugs) will always lead to an untimely end, no matter the talent of the individual. I think it is better to remember the wonderful rare talent of the man, and have pity for the poor sad individual he became.

I just don't agree that the OP of the other thread should have the right to dictate what gets said in there and have the support of the mods so as I don't really care if you love him or hate him you can post what you like about him here without fear of me getting stroppy and alerting the mods..

For what it's worth I think you were right col. Bit much starting a thread then making demands as to how people reply to it.

The site is moderated. Deal with it. You were quick enough to alert the Mods to a spoof boiler service without watching the video properly.

Then the title of your discussion should maybe have read along the lines of "what did you think of Alex Higgins" rather than your title - which clearly explains your feelings towards him.

This site is bigger than any one member - even you.

I know the site is bigger than me, but it's also bigger than the OP of the other post who has asked for no negative comments in "his" thread..


Is it my fault if human nature is what it is? if you title a thread "do not read this" then you get lots of people comming in to see why not..

and as I've said before, I didn't alert the mods to that boiler spoof, I was merely voicing my ideas on why the mods might have believed it breached their rules and moderated it..

I can still remember him crying with his kids years ago when he won the world title

people like him made snooker into a TV sport instead of just the local pub game he probably did more for snookers popularity than anyone

wont be many more like him which is why snookers lost its interest for me if you take o'sullivan away theres no characters or anyone exciting to watch anymore its boring.
