Sharia law

When I've been to church for a funeral, or wedding ceremony, there is a lot of rhetoric, and telling people how they should act. But Christians/Unbelievers like me don't compute that. But followers of the Koran, do to an extent. They follow certain rules, but not all. Why starve yourselves in daylight - rule? But Not follow the rule that says kill everyone that doesn't agree with you - rule? Why not kill everyone that you disagree with, and eat as much as you can in daylight? Why have daft rules? Either abide by the book fully, or not at all.

...... But Christians/Unbelievers like me .........
So are you a christian or an unbeliever? BTW, they're called aethists or agnostics, depending on your particular stance.

I saw the late, great Dave Allen on TV a couple of days ago, doing the Adam and Eve sketch. Absolute classic.

Those who remember him will know that he was famous for poking fun at his own religion and, such was his comic genius, he could do it without being offensive. I think Islam needs a Dave Allen.

So that's your attempt at supplying references for your claims.

How about trying to supply a reasonable reference like:
The Bible, St John, Chapter 3 Verse 23. or
(Quran 2.100) i.e sur-e-bakhara, verse 100
or something like that?

As they say; Put up or shut up.
So demonstrate your understanding of the Bible and the Qur'an by supplying proper references.

BTW, if you're referencing the Qur'an, you ought to quote the original, in Arabic, which is what was revealed to Mohammed. Or you should reference the translation, which is the translators interpretation.
You can apply the same to the biblical references but the King James version is often the accepted version. There's no reason why you can't refer to other versions.

But as an experienced researcher, you'd know all of this, wouldn't you?

Yes Spacecat, the sense of humour I referred to and a great comic I remember very well.

In fact I used to watch it with my mum who was a devoted RC and very Victorian. I’m sure some Christians would have been outraged at Dave Allen but they didn’t take up arms against a sea of troubles and oppose, suppress or kill.

Is a sense of humour banned in certain religions? Something along the lines of thou shall not take the p*ss lest the wrath of a thousand cuts shall be exacted upon thee.

As young as it is, at least Christianity is tolerant..

As the great man himself would say...

May your God be with you ;)

May your God be with you ;)
Why thank you; you too :D

One of the reasons why all these transcripts are erroneous is because languages and semantics themselves evolve. If I said I am gay it would have a totally different meaning to that of 50 years ago. Now then - that’s just in 50 years so if we fast rewind, or to put it another way fast forward a scholar from 2000 or 4000 years ago to read what we have as ‘the truth’ to today they would quite likely be horrified!!! (Not to mention ignorant).

How many more examples like that can we come up with I wonder. You’re wicked Spacecat. ;)

Now I know exactly what is going to come up next so I may as well say it. It will start with

“We know it’s accurate and truthful because...”

Add: The example I always give is to imagine if I pulled a drowning girl out of a river and everyone saw she was dead. I could soon have them all believe I am a god because I was seen to breath life back into her.

Every religion is man made.....and why is it that every one thinks that only they are right.....that they are exclusive....the chosen ones.
Is it not possible that IF there is a god ...and NO ONE knows for sure whether there is or not, is he not capable of embracing all religions all races and all mankind.
If there is a god he is so huge, so powerful.... after all he flung the sun, the moon, the stars the whole universe into the sky (and consider for a moment how huge the universe is, billions and billions of stars and galaxies)
Surely he is not like us, picking and choosing who he loves and cares for and who he doesn't.....if you are going to believe in god at least give him some majesty.....and don't bring him down to our petty squabbling level.

Of course there is a God.

Where did all the material in the universe come from? Dunno, but it must have come from somewhere - so let's call that somewhere or something God.

The alternative thought is that everything comes from nothing - but what acted upon that nothing to make it a something? I dunno, but let's call it God.

Whereas open the bible and one the first page of genesis you find scietifically flawed statements, ie. god created night and day before he created the sun.

how is that scientifically flawed?

"night and day" is the passage of time... one of the 4 basic dimensions.
the sun is then a physical object that exists in the 4 basic dimensions..

You cannot have night and day without the Sun. Its the Suns light which gives us day, and the lack of the Suns light (when the earth faces away from the sun which gives us night.

Therefore to say night and day exists before a sun existed is a scientifically flawed statement.

The sun does not create night and day , the rotation of the earth does.
You can have a sun and only have night , or day.
