Dad of three, mum away for the weekend... anyone suggest great things we can do? (last year we had cake and fizzy pop for breakfast, then went up the park with everything we could think of... (kites, planes, footballs rugby balls boomerangs, frisbys etc ))

A trip to the seaside is always popular with kids.

Clean and tidy the house and garden.

Wash and iron all the clothes in the laundry basket.

Prepare mum's favorite meal for when she comes home.

you don't say how old, but boys love go-karting, cinema for a quieter time, fortunately 2 of my 3 are into sport, so that takes up a lot of time. or perhaps something a bit more active like paintball (but always go on the opposing side) nothing better than "shooting" ur kids and vice versa. :D:

which bit of Derbyshire are you in?

Our 3 boys love the Mam Tor (we call it the broken road).

We park at the top. On a good sunny day there's usually people there para and hang gliding. Take a pignic.

They love scrambling around. Usually, we then drive down the stunning Winnets Pass, turn left at the bottom and park at the other end of the Mam Tor road, just near a cave. It's great if it's been raining, there's some puddles and if really wet a waterfall to splash in. With our unpredictable weather you can't tell!! Take towels, change of clothes & wellies.

If you have a bit of cash, there's Speedwell cavern (back up Winnets Pass), or the Devil's Arse, Peak Cavern. There's Peveril Castle, run by English Heritage, 11.70 for 2 adults & 3 kids, saving you 90p.

Also nearby is Buxton, with Pooles Cavern, there's a Go Ape next door, not sure what age yours are.

Also, there's a folly to walk up to on the hill nearby. Great fun for chucking parachuted soldiers off! Toy ones, I hasten to add.....

Bon Chance!

Considering you're in Cheshire and you're describing the place i live in... that's one of the best responses i've ever seen... Thanks SecureSpark...

Hey, no worries!

To be fair, we're only down the hill fro Buxton, so to speak, in Stockport.

So Mam Tor and Castleton, Buxton and the High Peak generally are all relatively close. Fantastic countryside to roam in with three energetic boys...!

So what did you do in the end?

Not done it yet... in the past have filled the boot with footballs, rugby balls, frisbies, kites, aeroplanes etc... and parked up near the local cafe in the park...

Any more inspiration ?
(apart from Joe  )
