Was Thatcher reallly that bad ?

A hard working family should be rewarded i think, and the skivers penalized, but that is common sense, so probably never happen.

So it should. I'm afraid that the opposite is true at present: skivers, especially those who know all the tricks, are the ones who are rewarded whilst hard working families in this country seem to be penalised. I sometimes wonder why we bother.

I'm sure getting benefits is about how much brass-neck you can have, how good a poker face you have, how good a stare-down you can have.
The system works while there are enough contributing to cover those who can't / won't.

I abuse the system why not, the invaders do. As do your MPs.

Two wrongs make a right?

The very reason there are generations of scrounging scum.

most seem to be able to have an intelligent conversation without seemingly pointless almost child like comments that serve little purpose to a well though out debate
whilst i fully respect you comments are as valid as mine they do not seem to give a well rounded point more the appearance off a knee jerk reaction
i could off course be wrong and for that i appologize :D ;)

Wasn't knee jerk at all.

I read her post several times. Came to the conclusion she was admitting to claiming benefits unnecessarily and asked the question. Simple though it was.

Benefits in my view are there as a last resort to keep food on the table during hard times. Not to be treated as an entitlement.

Thankfully it seems benefit scroungers are fewer than the Daily Mail would have you believe; but still for those of us that work hard and don't claim a penny (apart from child benefit in my case) it a infuriating.

I also find it infuriating that, until I retired, I worked hard to fund the easy lifestyle of benefit scroungers, and I make no apology for saying that.

What a great example you must set for your kids.

One daughter aged 20 is a nursery manager.
One daughter aged 25 just starting a solicitor training contract.

I abuse the system an mp on £65,000 does it, why the fook should'nt i?..

MAGGIE was the best PM we ever had and are likely to have.
She encouraged 'decent honest workers' to go forward and prosper.

Early 90s - when everything was getting sorted out --ie: miners, steelworkers , car workers etc --she sorted the lot of them out -full stop.

If anyone could be reborn again- I'd vote for Maggie.
She never waivered, changed her direction and she did a damn good job.

Unlike these gutless bumholes we have now running this 'soon to extinct circus of a country'.
We all HAD hope in the 90s --unlike today.
What we ned now is a real strong leader- who will never concede his ideals .

Far too late though- this country is fo oked. No turning back.
UKIP is a little ray of hope to change a few things--but- will anyone vote for them >?. YES- lots will--but not enough.
Far too many scroungers here now- and not just the immigrants.

Just confirming my opinion of you then.

Sorry you feel that way dan, i worked every hour i could whilst on the railway as i knew it wouldn't last. I got about 6 yrs out of it. i worked hard as well.
Two hours traveling, 12-14 hours work, try shoveling ballast for 12 hours.
I wasn't on the money these MPs are on.
I had a diesel card with no checks whatsoever, none at all. i know people where filling 5 gallon drums, i never, l was happy with my wages.
Security had the right to stop any vehicle on the way home for gennys and sthill saws, i took 4 home by mistake, but returned them the next day.

I used to steal out of neccesity and will do so again if i need to live.
