Religion? how many decades has it got?

Science is no closer to answering the meaning of life or any closer to disproving that a God didn't start it all.

It is no accident that religious people are known as 'enlightened'.

You heathens are scared and envious.

i am no better or no worse than anybody else
certainly not superior
i give respect to others and they respect me for my actions

Well i certainly consider myself superior to others, anybody locked up for all sorts of offences for example. Anybody who cannot be bothered to get out of bed in the morning and go to work because they get enough benefits to live on so they don't think they need to.

I am certainly superior to those lot. If you want to consider them your equals then I think you must be a bit daft to be honest.

But the 'Age of Enlightenment' is when people started usiing critical reasoning, embracing science and when belief in god decreased - the most Enlightened were certainly not the most religious!

It does make you wonder why so many people have faith in such a scientific age.

3/4 of U.S. citizens believe in God.

There are a greater number of people on Earth that believe as opposed to those that don't.

Interesting innit.

The Yanks join a church to meet people from the same social, political and economical group. 3/4 don't believe in God at all, it's all bull. They join to make friends and do business deals. It's a social event and they choose the church which has the pastor which will tell them what they want to hear.

Science could and can destroy religion, and it will one day, through nuclear destruction of the entire life on our planet, science is on a suicide mission, whereas religion is gaining more and more tolerance and understanding, and bringing man ever so closer to one another, hence the gay marriages is the proof of this!

what i mean by that is its not my place to decide i am better or worse
others make them selves better or worse by there actions
a racist is worse because off his actions and words how much depends on how extreme the words and actions are

No just means 3/4 of people don't accept science. lots of people like BGT doesn't mean it's good. You will have to accept the majority of people are really thick. And no it is not interesting, frankly it's saddening.

suspect the question was probably linked to something like
do you believe you will go to heaven

now the only answer would be you cant go to heaven without believing

suspect if you ask how many times they have worshiped in the last year most will be at best twice a year

Do you honestly think that it is only non-scientific thick people that believe in god?

I'm afraid YOU are the one looking a bit dim my friend.

As albert Einstein famously said "Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind"...

Even the great man himself believed.

He also said:

The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this.

And on Judaism (his 'born into' religion)

For me the Jewish religion like all others is an incarnation of the most childish superstitions.

childish superstitions eh?

But I must remind myself, you cannot have rational debate with a fruitcake.

So, even when you consider what he thought about it, he STILL believed.

Amazing innit.

Einstein was agnostic, and certainly did not believe in a god from which moral authority derived.

' I consider ethics to be an exclusively human concern with no superhuman authority behind it'

He was agnostic as he felt that he could not rule out tehexistance of god completely - this is a long way from being a believer and is a very scientific approach, not a religious one. More a case of not ruiong anything out without proof, in contrast to the religious one of faith in something without any proof.

Ruffled a few feathers here.... :p

To blanket all religious people with the word 'fruitcake' is as shameful as being a racist.

What Chapoo and the like have done is shown their intolerant true colours.

There are good and bad in all walks.
