I phoned in for a Plumber to change some bath taps tomorrow, he said, A small job like that would cost £64 + VAT, I asked him, My limit is £100, will it be under that? He said yes,

But not sure if it was a fix rate cost or £64 per half hour,

He is coming tomorrow at 12, its too late to phone back,

What do you think he meant?

Sounds like a fixed price, £64 + VAT, so £76.80 all in.

On a Saturday as well, bargain

just check when he arrives that his price will be the maximum including materials and most small unforseen points including vat travel and sourcing costs

All jobs like this will be plus parts, he may have to cut and fit new pipe work to the taps.

What normally happens is the plumber will drain down remove the taps, cut the pipe work - then tell you it's an extra £££. At that point you are stuck!
