should gas hob have isolation valve?

And everything deserving an answer was dealt with on the first page.

Go figure.

I tried to figure it out from the not very clear answers on the first page

No, it's not what to expect...

No body is perfect and it's not the biggest mistake that could be made, so no need to have a baby over it.

But they should return and fit a valve FOC.

The straight forward answer would have been "Yes there should be a isolation valve and no this standard of work is not acceptable"

Also gas advice is not permitted on this forum as mistakes in gas work can result in fatalities.
not the biggest mistake that
it is a mistake. If a DIYer made that mistake he or she would be castigated for making it.

Bernard, you do not need to know because you do not do gas work.

But as you like to know:-

All gas appliances, boilers, cookers and fires need to have an iso valve for use when servicing. A cooker hose bayonet fitting is self sealing and provides the isolation.

The safety valve for the installation is the Emergency Control ( EC ), at the meter and sometimes another where gas enters a flat if the meter is not close by.

The EC should be readily accessible and not hidden behind shoes, heavy tool boxes etc. in an under stairs cupboard.

Bernard, you do not need to know because you do not do gas work.

Given that some plumbers who have the qualification to do gas work seem to lack the ability or desire to do the work in the proper manner then it is useful for the average man in the street to know what should be there after a qualified and conscientious gas fitter has carried out work. That way the average man in the street can identify work that has been carried out in a slip shod way and a few cowboys may get identified and hopefully reported.

I don't remember Bernard posting on the thread where the the professionals here told the OP to report the installer to the HSE.

Perhaps it's because it didn't fit with his sanctimonious attitude toward the trade?

I'll have a reprise just incase I'm mistaken. ;)

If that was about the rodent company then it was a little outside the scope that Bernard usually gets involved in.

Google warrior at it again.

Sadly, irony seems to be lost on the forum sandal wearer. ;)

Been to a nice izakaya this evening though with SWMBO. Local yaki niku place tomorrow with quite possibly the best kimchi outside of South Korea. Balls to Tony's bizarre curry nights :D
