crumbs for the starving, free doughnuts for the obese

I think it would be better if the employers paid them this amount in the first place. Do you not?

I can only buy a t-shirt from Primark for £2.00 because some kid is paid 10p somewhere to make it. Start paying that kid £5 and what happens to my t-shirt? What happens to the people selling me my t-shirt, what happens to the company employing those people to sell me my t-shirt? What happens to me when I ask for a raise so that I can afford to buy the t-shirts at the new price?

But yeah it all sounds great.

i personally have no problem with people bettering them selves and doing well
what i dont like is a selfish society where we all work as hard as each other and its so skewed that some have to work 2 or 3 times harder just to put food on the table
and others demonizing them for having the nerve and gual to be struggling whilst they thrive with minimum genuine disruption or sacarafice in there own lives

Who are these who are sailing along? Apart from the very exceptional cases, I doubt that there are many in that particular boat.

This is why you will generally not get any better off, through incremental pay rises alone. Something that many just don't understand.

To become effectively better off than you were, you have to increase your skill / ability / responsibilities, and be commensurately rewarded for it.

Yes that's right.

The answer has to be socialism where we are all equal and everything is controlled. Oh, err hang on a minute ....

You do love your straw man arguments. You justify anything by shouting socialism - because that word has now been used as a slur or pejorative term.

"Austerity? What Austerity it would be worse under socialism!!"

Not only are you an easy mark but you have been so well indoctrinated that you are on a self fulfilling rhetorical loop.

Paying for the Armed forces is socialism. Lets get rid of them then! - People who don't contribute still benefit from the defence of the realm!

Like the Poor Southerners in the US who vote Republican ideologically against their own best interests.

You do love your clueless generalisations and assumptions. Who's the easy mark?

Anyway do keep on track.

yes, it's exceptional to be made the editor of a newspaper when you have no publishing or journalistic experience.

Only happens to the well-connected.

brig can only predict things after they've happened.
That's not prediction.

What are you on? FFS

You start a thread on one subject, they post something completely random and then comment on others posts as if they are supposed to know what's going on in your head. Jesus, give us a chance.

these comments seem ill thought out in my opinion
most people who think they are poorly off are more lacking in what there perception off whats important rather than what is actually important
if you skip a meal or do without essentials you are suffering in reality
if you cant afford your designer lables or subscription to a gym its more a aspiration deprivation rather than an essential need
off course this is very crude generalization and i appologize for that but the point i am making is most who think they are stuggeling are in general just having to make extra choices rather than often close to destitute

It was a question, not a comment.
You were the one who posted about people working 1/2 or a 1/3 as hard as others, yet having it easy. I was asking you, apart from the obvious and rare exceptions, who these "easy streeters" are.
