Marks on wall where clear glass kitchen splashback touches it ?

Can you please advise?
I have a simple 900mm wide clear glass splashback with 4 holes that sits on the worktop upstand and topped by the fan shroud hood - see photos.

The glass is fastened to the wall with 4 mirror screws but there were no spacers to keep it from touching the painted wall. This is an all new kitchen and the glass is starting to show the paint in small blobs where the glass directly touches the one week old paint - Dulux Trade Diamond matt.

If this was a solid colour glass then it would likely be stuck to the wall, but this is pre-drilled and is meant to be screw fastened to it.

It seems logical that there should be some spacers to set the glass 2mm or so away from the wall painted surface. What should I do and use? Can I get clear plastic washers, small ones but thick enough to do the job?

I once made some washers from clear bathroom silicone by flattening it between layers of cling film. Im sure you could fashion some in a similar manner.

You can add a small fibre washer behind the screws, and they should be covered over by the chrome heads

They go in from the rear, so that the washer is touching the wall.

There should be a set of those already, but you could cut the extended piece off of them, and that would work.

What a daft splashback, there will be dirt and grime behind the glass that you'll never be able to get to, chuck it in the bin and fit something opaque.

Just trim the cover cap off.

Others - thanks for the constructive comments, I'll use some kind of washer/spacer behind the glass just to keep it away from the wall, by just 2mm would probably be enough.

There were stepped clear collars supplied, but the fitter used them with the 'top hat' outwards. I suppose that was because the mirror screws are countersunk and would have easily damaged the glass, needing something to absorb the pressure on the glass from the screw? Don't know - I really hate paying someone to do a worse job than I can.

I will perhaps run a thin bead of clear silicone down each side to keep muck penetration to a minimum.

Have you thought about taking it off and giving it a sand or spray with some paint?
If not definitely run a bead down the edges though I still think you'll get condensation dirt and spiders behind it.

Because you don't like it or agree, does not make it any less valid.

That is condensation mould. You will get staining behind glass and if the glass is clear you will see it. That's the nature of the dimension we live in.

Agree. Stupid and poncy idea with little thought given to what a splashback actually does.
That clear glass thing is just a window to gunk!

Anyway - back to my underwater hair dryer invention......

I think the idea is to slip the take away menus behind there for when you can' be a**d cooking, great idea!

Take it off, clean the back of it, then spray it, and you'll never see any marks behind it again.

Or get something more professional.
