The U.K is more prejudiced than any other country against fat people . With one in Four saying they would not want an obese person to marrying into there family.

Britons are more likely to blame people for being fat & see them as lazy & irresponsible because of the nations bias regarding weight

An employment expert said that obesity should become a legally protected characteristic like race & sex

Stephen Bevan , head of HR research at the institute of employment studies

He spoke recently at the European Congress on obesity in Vienna.

Red tops ?? cant say I read em , have not bought one for ?? blimey over 20 years ?

Hows about you ?? Morning Star may be  Socialist worker

what's that?

dunno ?

probably some pencil pushing , paper shuffeling organisation full of people puffed up with there own perceived self importance , but actually do nothing of any consequence ??

may be funded by the EU

No reason to pay any attention to it, then.

I don't know why you randomly quote stuff you found trawling the net, when you have no idea of its source, veracity or value.

Was it mentioned at the Surrey Fat Plumbers convention?

Another study of more than 90,000 people in 9 countries found that Britons were half as likely sas americans to accept that obesity had a medical cause .

" The UK and US believe in irresponsibility as much as any other explanation (but) the UK says bull s**t on medical which is pretty harsh" said

Ted Kyle of the obesity action group who presented the results at the congress.

Typical a**e end!
Repeats something he thinks he heard or read somewhere, extracts a minimum bit of information, twists it to suit his own narrative, then misrepresents it for others to digest. He never provides references for his source material for his 'version' to be checked for veracity.
Then when challenged on the veracity he resorts to 'take it up with his source'.
He ignores the fact that he twisted and misrepresented the issue, and cannot provide links to his original source material.

It is not funded by the EU, although the EU may part fund some specific research projects.
It is funded mainly by industry and commerce.

Actually he did, he gave the name of the journo and what the article was about. It doesn't take long to find the article if you really wanted to.

There is no mention of the Times, or the author's name, and no link, in his initial post.

Are you grumbling that I tried to winkle the source out of his reluctant grasp?

Being obese shouldn't be encouraged. Obesity related illnesses are already protected in employment law if they are disabling. I'm not condoning being mean or bullying fat people, but the whole idea that society should encourage people to be unhealthy is bonkers.

Very few people have metabolic or medical issues which mean they are prone to weight gain. Some people do find themselves more prone to addiction to high calorie foods, but that is not to say they can't over come it.
