Come on lad, get it all out your system, get all the abuse, the point scoring, the having a pop's out once and for all. There there, you may feel better after and perhaps we can all move on.
Aww bless...

'Sodthis' is going for the patronising approach...

Are you trying to make yourself feel 'big' again? It's not working, trust me.

'Knee high to a grasshopper' is as 'big' as you'll ever get

Better check your own abuse/point scoring first btw ;)

You've already got it wrong about me and my vote and about what I meant with Trump.
Well you obviously got it wrong about my reply, so I guess I'm not that far off the mark about your observations!

By truly independent do you mean self sufficient as in grow enough food and make our own clothes without importing?

I mean the country, not individuals. I cant cook or knit so would die hungry and naked but my drains would be lovely!!

Well it depends on how you want to define self sufficient? Basic food and shelter perhaps lol.

There are huge benefits to trade - what has happened is the costs of trade and the benefits have not been shared equally. I know you are the smartest Drain repairer Hazard lookalike, you might in your spare time have a read of Globalization and it's discontents by Joseph Stiglitz. He's a Nobel prize winning economist and professor so he might know a thing or two.

Have you read that book? I assume you have then you would know Stiglitz argument re the Euro.

I havent, but I have read about the dodgy Euro concept from other sources.

The reviews on Amazon are a bit mixed, I get the impresstion his writing style is heavy. Im thknking about getting the book you suggested though.

He is one of the more amenable economic writers, others will put you to sleep. He's passed away now but JK Galbraith The Affluent Society is another book you should read and he has some memorable quotes. There are some economists who write books for the consumption of academics and really not for the general public.

Thanks. I can do amenable - I may well give it a try.
