This post might save your life......if you apply it.

What bugs me are the people who don't seem to know/use the 2 second rule these days. Have they stopped teaching it?

For those that don't know it; When travelling behind another vehicle at 40mph note when the other vehicle passes a stationary object, (e.g. sign, tree, driveway etc). As they pass it start to recite the words "Only a fool breaks the 2 second rule" in a normal conversational voice. If you pass that mark before you have finished then you are too close to the vehicle in front. If you are going faster, e.g. 50mph you simply repeat it before going past the mark. If it's frosty/icy you double the time for lower speeds to 4 seconds by repeating it twice.

Most drivers take no notice of spacing even when its painted on the fekin m/way and huge signs up ffs. Half the population is brain dead behind a steering wheel.

It seems as if at least 50% of drivers cannot stick to the speed limit or stay back more than half a car length, never mind do anything "advanced" in a motor vehicle.

You would probably qualify as a classic case, 1 hour with me & I could convince you that you could be a better driver.

Why do I say this? It's because you think that half the drivers out there aren't as good as you.

I don't think that 50% of drivers out there are as good as me. I reckon that as little as 1% of drivers should not be on the road, as little as 20% need some serious attitude adjustment & the rest of you just need a good slap & a wake up call.

If you think that you in the top half of driving ability then come & pick me up, let us drive around for awhile, then you can buy me a coffee in a cafe, where I will rip your driving apart. For me what matters most is the next 1/2hr, if you don't want to be a better driver then drop me off & we both go our own way.

Lol. No you couldn't, not a snowball in hell's chance.

I rarely see people as good as me. As considerate as me, as aware as me, as safe as me, who plan like me, and foresee like me and can get from A to B like me, without worrying other drivers.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not some superior expert driver, but just a normal person, considerate of others, and who uses common sense and knows how to drive properly without being an arse. You can't get any better than that.

I used to train observers & helped write the book on how to be a good observer, but not any more, that world really is full of anally retentive Highway Code preachers.

Nowadays I pick up a few from casual conversations, trusted referrers & the odd one who I insist they spend a few hours with me or I'll set fire to their car/bike & no one will ever find me guilty :)

A few local ADI's send there worst case scenario's to me & I like that. I've met some wonderfull people & some have even gone on to share my values & become great drivers or riders.

I had a Xmas card this year from a young lady who failed her test 3x due mainly to nerves, we got her passed on her 4th attempt a few years ago with only 2 minors & most of ther thank you is that now she can control her nerves her career has really took off.

I don't do it to feed a massive ego, I've never done it for a living & I don't do it 'cos I'm some kind of warrior, I just do it because I enjoy it.

Be careful, even if you don't charge, you need insurance and might also be breaking the law if you are not an ADI.

95% of drivers say they are above average.

Are you really?
The majority of drivers can be above avg.

"Rip my driving apart'..rofl..save me your sales patter.I do not pretend to be "better"..your idea of better is different to mine.In sticking to speed limits and not tail gating,im better than 99% of the population..No one is perfect,,I am sure your driving ability could be "ripped apart"

"Good slap and a wake up call" never happens for most people. Many end up dead, injured,or kill someone else..I drive 3 hours a day, half up motorways,,,the vast vast majority drive way too close in a chevroned section,,most less than 1 chevron,,never mind 2.At least 50%,,i never do,and stick to speed limits,,that makes me a far better, safer driver,in those two respects.and far less likely to cause an accident,in those two respects.

Even if you just stick to speed limits, are courteous,do not use your phone, and keep a safe distance, you are a vast improvement on the majority..

My wife reckons I’m one of the worse drivers on the road, always telling me to slow down, don’t pull out, watch that car, watch that bike, pull back from the car in front etc etc. I haven’t had an accident in 40 years but on the other hand, she’s knocked the nearside door mirror off of our Evoque twice in the last 3 years by driving too close to parked cars but oh no, that doesn’t count, does it?
