Hi, I moved into a property last year. It has a Worcester 30CDI conventional. I recently had a smart meter fitted on the 5th December. From the 5th Dec to today, 4th Jan I have used 317 m3 gas. The boiler is the only consumer of gas within the house, hob is induction, and ovens are electric. Does this seem excessive? Is there anything i should have checked. Any advice appreciated.

Not sure. I used 183 m3 over the same period. That was in a 3 bed bungalow that was built 20 years ago. Boiler 440cdi condenser. Heating and hot water. I would have thought it depends on property and where in the country you are plus how warm you like to be.

Depends entirely on the size of the property being heated, how long for, how much insulation it has, outside temperatures and a whole load of other factors.

How much gas was used before the new meter was installed?

317 cu. m of gas in 30 days is an average of 10.5 per day.

It's more than my modern house on the South Coast uses in winter (it was 7cu.m average per day in December) but the temperature here was mostly around 10C.

My previous Edwardian house was larger, and had solid walls, and was not so far south, and averaged 12.5 cu.m/day in the winter months.

So yours is not outside a normal range.

We don't know how cold Stirlingshire has been, we don't know how big your house is, we don't know how well it is insulated and draughtproofed.
