People there are not "living" together, it is a welcoming business adventure, not a utopian experiment.

But immigrants with their different ways and their different religions have been living together, side by side in the UK for hundreds of years! Why do you think so little of people and think that everything is doomed for failure?!

I don't think so little of people, people tend to stick to their own kind, hence all these "ghettos" cropping up. Most new immigrants are drawn to an area with a language & culture which is known to them, it wouldn't surprise me if some of the older generation, especially the women, have hardly ever stepped outside places like Chinatown. The younger 2nd 3rd 4th generation are more adventurous as they are not so entrenched in the elders way of life and so feel it easier to integrate. The same can be said of Brit's who emigrate, birds of a feather flock together.
There are certainly towns and communities in this country that have changed significantly, and perhaps in some cases starting from when the Eastern block EU countries joined.
There is no doubt some towns have seen a significant influx of immigrants and some have seen gang violence, petty theft etc.
Whilst it is wrong that people should then conflate the problem and blame it on all immigrants, it is also wrong that those that raise concerns should just be dismissed as troublemaking zenophobes. It happens a lot on this forum.
Communities have changed, some of that is due to immigration and people should be allowed to express their concerns.

The problem though is that many of the 'indigenous' lot claim that the changes are always for the worse...
They of course tend to be the less educated/less travelled ones, as opposed to those who have a bit more of an open mind and can embrace many facets of change...
The less educated/less travelled ones are also the ones more easily manipulated by those who wish to stir up racial/societal tensions for their own aims!
Please list these new ghettos.

Ok, yes, I take on board some of what you say. And the next generation of immigrants then integrate, then their children and so fourth. So in the meantime we have some small pockets of areas with new immigrants, is that a huge deal? Or at least the huge deal that the press make it out to be? Immigration to the UK is falling now anyway, esp from the EU.
Perhaps we should spend our time and energy helping people integrate when they first arrive instead of hostility and false propaganda, egged on by the media and the likes of Tommy etc. Then we could address those legit concerns that people have about integration and everyone gets happier.
Maybe it's because I'm a ( insert appropriate ethnicity) That I love London so - I gets a funny feelin' inside a me , just walkin up and down ........
If you feel like a stranger where you live, perhaps you shouldn't have moved to Essex.
Plaistow is now, and has been for hundreds of years, one of the most diverse parts of the entire country, and the first destination for many incomers.
I'd be surprised if you couldn't find people like yourself there.
