Why has the Best Photo thread been locked?

It has been running for quite some time and not caused any heated arguments or 'bullying', unlike a lot of posts, so what is the reason for locking it?

I had replied to Slime who was critical about the picture posted of some game birds, but it wasnt confrontational at all.

Its a shame as its one of my favorite threads.

It did have some bickering, of which I was part of, but it seems a shame to lock it. They deleted the posts anyway, so that would've been enough?

I posted a picture of some birds that were shot on a shoot that I go to (I don’t shoot, but I go with my working cocker to exercise her and to help with the flushing). Slime turned it into a free-for-all by criticising the subject, I got caught up in it with a few others and it basically ****ed the thread up. I contacted the mods to ask them if they could remove all the off-topic stuff as it wasn’t really anything to do with the thread and as far as I knew, they had removed most of the posts. I didn’t notice whether they had locked it at the time though. Anyway, one of the most interesting and argument free threads on here has now been locked. Thanks Slime. Nice one.

I saw the post re: game birds and don't like the idea of shooting for pleasure. Suspected it was something to do with the pics.
Mods. Now that any offensive posts have been deleted can you please re-instate the photo thread?
A lot of us enjoy looking at what others are experiencing and enjoy posting our own occasionally. We are all adults and, as said earlier, it is a very long running one with a history of no quarrelling.
