100k tests

WELL DONE - over 122,000 tests and the govt target exceeded. Hopefully the media will now congratulate the govt and stop looking to talk its efforts down...... but no doubt they will find something else to winge about.

It is confirmed by the government that swabs that are posted out are counted as completed tests. Even though they don't give a result until they're back in a lab being processed.

It sounds like they could be playing silly buggers with the numbers and just mailing a load out as one big batch. Even if they're not doing it deliberately it will overinflate the numbers as some won't be completed.

If love to be proven wrong but trust is earnt.

3072 - why include pillar 4 testing lol - thats surverillance testing - thats testing the samples they already have.

Looks like you need to put the champagne back on ice.

Poor filly RWR meltdown.

Very "cunning" way to meet the promise

"Tests Performed" includes "Tests not yet done, but kits put in the post."

In the same way that "50,000 extra nurses" includes existing nurses.

I'm sure Buffoon the notorious liar will be quite content with that.

No, because the government promise was that they would perform 100,000 tests. Which they have not done.

How do you get to a state where you're testing 80k people but doing 120k tests? Are we still processing multiple days backlogs? If not, why are we testing some people twice in a day?

There has always been a disparity as people get tested more than once. :) Read my lips - always from day 1.

However some are now in the post - more than there was when the drive through opened.

There was, but my understanding was that was because people were being tested one day, tested a second day and then getting both back.

There seems to be a lot in hospital as well. Get there with symptom, test shows negative so test again. Also more testing has been mentioned if the condition lasts longer than expected.

If some one is taking themselves along 2 days on the trot with no reason it shouldn't happen.

The interesting factor about testing is the relatively low proportion of positives.

Females have a lower % positive than males.

Some of those hospital ones were because people were going in, tested as they had something that caused symptoms but was. It Covid-19, then whilst they were in hospital caught Covid-19.

If you're getting 50% of your tests back as positive then you're testing that group too little. That graph shows that we were epically under testing in week 12.

They have been running at an average of under 50% positive all of the time. Well under when all ages and sexes are combined. That graph just splits up ages. These are hospital tests as well so should only be taken if there are symptoms. It suggests some may have been given them when they shouldn't have. The basic idea was, you have symptoms, isolate for 7 days. Temperature, sore throat, dry cough is expected. So if short of breath or symptoms don't go phone 111. The isolation is reduced as the incubation period is over. That can take 11 days. They have never mentioned that the 14day isolation needs extending if still unwell at the end.
